The Colleagues of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics are dedicated to enhancing educational
and career opportunities for students at Cal State Fullerton through the expansion of programs, support
for student and faculty research and the establishment of cooperative educational relationships with the
regional corporate community.
Colleagues also enjoy the many benefits of association with Cal State Fullerton and NSM such as
access to faculty, invitations to campus and college events and programs designed specifically
for Colleagues members.
The College of Natural Science and Mathematics’ more than 6,000 graduates have
made their mark in a wide variety of professions all over the globe. From Tracy
Caldwell ‘93, one of NASA’s youngest astronauts, to Linda Spilker ‘77, JPL deputy
project scientist for the Cassini mission, to Dan Black ‘67, physics graduate and
highly successful Northern California entrepreneur, our students have consistently
stepped up to the challenges of today’s science and business environments.
Through its five departments - Biological Science, Chemistry and Biochemistry,
Geological Sciences, Mathematics and Physics - the College has populated the
sciences with researchers and leaders of the highest distinction.
Colleagues, through their membership dues and active participation, are valued
stakeholders in the futures of all the students in NSM.
The cornerstone of a NSM education is the incorporation of
hands-on, inquiry-based experiences into the core curricula of
all our programs. We pride ourselves on graduating “practice
ready” scientists. Colleagues are crucial to the College’s efforts
to keep students ahead of the accelerating pace of scientific
discovery and technology. To that end, support from our
Colleagues benefits specific areas of NSM such as:
- Funding for faculty research, endowed chairs and curriculum enhancements
- Continuing expansion of research laboratories, classroom facilities and equipment
- Tuition and Research Scholarships and support for Student Presentations at national conferences
- Other Dean’s and Departmental funding priorities
