NSM-ICC Symposium 2008: “Global Warming and Technology”

The NSM-ICC Symposium will be held on Tuesday, April 15th and Wednesday, April 16th, 2008 in the Titan Student Union. This is an event hosted by the Inter-Club Council of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics to showcase student work and discuss current issues in science.

Tuesday's activities will be in the Titan Theatre.

10:00am- Dr. Michael Horn, CSUF Department of Biological Science

“Climate Change in the North Pacific: A Complex Challenge for Sustainability”
11:30am- Dr. Mathew Kirby, CSUF Department of Geological Sciences
“Establishing a Baseline of Past Hydrologic Variability in Southern California for Better Water Management Practices”
1:00pm- Keynote: Dr. Michael Prather, UC Irvine Department of Earth Systems Science
“The Science of Climate Change: What Have We Done? What Can We Expect?”

Wednesday from 9am to 4pm will be in Pavilion A of the Student Union. Students will be presenting research posters and talks on this day, and there will be prizes and give-aways!

Attendance is free and everyone is invited, no registration required. For those who wish to present, we ask that they fill out a registration form and either e-mail it to the ICC Director of Administration: (snq16@sbcglobal.com) or hand in a hard copy to Assistant Dean Rochelle Woods in OCSAMS, McCarthy Hall 488 by 5pm on March 28th.

Reasons to attend the symposium: gain experience presenting research or just learn what research is going on in the college of NSM, have something valuable to add to a resume, win a prize, and learn about an important, timely topic, global climate change.
