President 2003-2004: Lynell Newmarch

Hello! I obtained a nursing degree from the University of Port Elizabeth in South Africa and am now pursuing my lifelong dream of becoming a physician. Having completed most of my pre-med requirements, I am now applying to medical school.

I am always availible to answer your questions and help guide you in the right direction or refer you to the right people. I hope that you will find SHPA an interesting and useful organization where all your pre-health academic needs are met.

Optometry Chair and Publications: Julia Tran

Besides inviting Optometry speakers to our meetings, my goal this year is to have bimonthly meetings with pre-optometry students and to
exchange knowledge of entering this profession.
I want it to become a support group where we can all vent in times of stress and success!

Indeed, I am holding a second term as SHPA’s PR! I love this office too much to give it up. It's such a fun job for me as I get to use my creativity and be right-brained instead of studying all the time. You guys have to look out for my fliers and check out the new display board on the 2nd floor!

Medical Chair: Jon Strotkamp
I am in my third year of the post-bac program at CSUF and am currently in the process of applying to medical school.
My goal is to make the club a resource for all premed students on campus and to accomplish their dreams of becoming a physician.
Whether you are a freshman looking at what classes to take for your first semester at Fullerton or an applicant needing to prepare for interviews, I will be available to help and guide you through this process.
The journey of becoming a physician is very difficult, but with the help of SHPA, we will make the path a little more bearable.

Minority Chair: Jennifer Zamora

Hello Fellow Students.
I am a pre-med here at CSUF and I am thrilled to be your minority chair. As minorities and pre-health professionals it is important to be become aware of many resources that we can utilize and I will do my best to make those resources available to you. It is vital that we reach out into communities that do not have the privelege of education and make a difference.

I am passionate about minorities getting health education because my mother, a Mexican-American, who could never afford health care, died of cancer, which could have been detected sooner if she knew about self breast exams.

God bless you all in your endeavors.

Volunteer Coordinator: Zehra Syed
Volunteer coordinators recognize the value and rewards of helping people in need. Our goal is to help you find a volunteering position that suits your interests.
We research volunteer opportunities in the community and present them to SHPA members at weekly meetings; if you miss a meeting, you can find all of the current volunteer opportunities in a file in the Health Professions Office.
We encourage you to get involved in the community. Also, we will be coordinating and facilitating volunteer events throughout the year. Last year, SHPA members helped out at an AIDS benefit dinner and participated in the MS walk.
All SHPA members will have a chance to be involved in the volunteer events that we sponsor this year.

Program Coordinator: Richard Ancheta

Hi everyone! I'm a senior majoring in Biology, and a current MARC scholar here at CSUF. I hope to enter a Ph.D/M.D. program and conduct cutting edge medical research.

I handle all the logistics of the club, from booking the rooms to making sure the speakers have everything they need such as: projectors and equipment.

I basically handle all the stuff in the backround, but what you probably know me best for is bringing in the refreshments!
